Privacy Policy

Overview
Loom (“Loom”, “we”, “us”) is a social app for rating and discovering beauty products and seeing what your friends use. This policy explains what information Loom collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using Loom, you agree to this policy.
Information We Collect
Account & identity. When you sign up with Sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address to create and secure your account. If you use Sign in with Apple’s “Hide My Email,” we receive the relayed address only.
Profile & content you create. Your username, display name, bio, avatar, and the content you post — product ratings, rankings, reviews, comments, collections, and follows. Much of this is public or visible to other users by design (for example, your ratings and reviews appear in feeds and on your profile). Reviews you mark private are not shown to others.
Reports you send us. When you report a rating, review, comment, or profile, we store the report along with any note you write in it, so we can review the case and act on it. Reports are visible to us, not to the person you reported.
Photos. Photos you add to a review are uploaded to our cloud storage and shown alongside that review. Granting camera or photo-library access is only used to let you capture or select these photos; we do not access your library otherwise.
Skin and hair traits. You can optionally choose traits that describe your skin and hair — for example skin type, scalp type, hair texture, and concerns such as sensitivity, acne-proneness, dandruff, or eczema. Some of these describe health conditions, so we treat them carefully: you choose whether to add any at all, you can change or remove them at any time, and we never include which traits you selected in our analytics. Traits you add are shown publicly on your profile and are used to let people filter reviews to reviewers with similar skin or hair. If you would rather not share them, leave them blank — the rest of the app works normally without them.
Device & technical data. If you enable notifications, we store a push notification token for your device so we can deliver alerts. We also process basic technical data needed to operate the service.
Approximate location. Our analytics provider works out a rough location from the internet connection your device uses (its IP address). That gives a city, region, and country, plus coordinates accurate only to within kilometers. We look at it in aggregate, to understand where Loom is being used and where to focus our effort. This is not precise location: Loom never asks for location permission, never reads your device’s GPS or location services, and cannot see where you are beyond what your connection suggests.
Analytics & diagnostics. We record how the app is used — for example that a review was submitted or a collection created — along with automatic crash and error reports when something goes wrong. These records are linked to your account so we can understand real usage and fix problems, and they carry basic device context such as your device model, operating system version, and app version. We do not record the content of your reviews, notes, or messages in them, and we never include which skin or hair traits you selected.
How We Use Information
We use your information to operate Loom: to authenticate you, display and share the content you post, power social features (feeds, follows, notifications), enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines, and respond to support and safety reports.
How Information Is Stored and Shared
Loom’s backend is hosted on Supabase, our cloud infrastructure provider, which stores and processes your data on our behalf as a sub-processor. We use PostHog as a second sub-processor, for the product analytics, crash reporting, and approximate location described above.
Signing in is handled by Apple and Google. When you choose one of them, they confirm your identity to us and pass along your name and email address as described above. Their own privacy policies cover what they do with the sign-in on their side.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking — Loom contains no advertising or attribution SDKs, and nothing we collect is shared with data brokers or used to target you across other apps and websites. Public content you post is visible to other Loom users and may be seen by anyone using the app.
Data Retention and Account Deletion
We keep your account information and content for as long as your account is active, and delete it when you delete your account.
You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. Deleting your account removes your profile and the content associated with it from our systems, including your uploaded photos. Some content you contributed to shared catalog data may be retained in anonymized form (with your identity removed). We may retain limited records where required for legal or safety reasons.
Children’s Privacy
Loom is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region), and we do not knowingly collect their information. You confirm you meet this minimum when you create an account. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete that account and its associated data promptly. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has created an account, contact us at loomcurationapp@gmail.com and we will remove it.
Your Choices
You can edit your profile, control notification permissions in iOS Settings, mark reviews private, block other users, and delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data; contact us to exercise them.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new date.
